1795 France 5 Cent, Fabrique du Vast – P. F. Fontenilliat MAZ 788 Emergency Coin

Emergency coin of 5 cents for the Vast factory, near Cherbourg. In 1795, Philippe Fontenilliat, from a family of spinners originating in Rouen, set up a cotton mill in Le Vast which would employ up to 600 workers in 1858 before ceasing its activities in 1886.
