Description

Here is an exceptionally interesting item from the 1893 Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition.  It is a change making device with slots for cents, nickels, dimes and quarters.  The bottom side has striking in the rounds:  “Souvenir” ; “WORLD’S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION CHICAGO 1893″ ; A picture of the Santa Maria ; and a portrait of Christopher Columbus that looks much like the one on the Commemorative Half Dollar.    The top side has slots labeled ‘1’ ; ‘5’ ; ’10’ ; and ’25”.  On the 25 slot, it reads PAT. APPLIED FOR/ IMPROVED/COIN HOLDER. ‘Magic Introduction C, New York’.    This piece is fresh, interesting and attractive.  A wonderful piece of Columbiana.
