Obverse: IMP MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG.  Laureate bust of Maximinus right.

Reverse: PAX AVGUSTI SC.  Pax Standing holding olive branch and sceptre.

Mint: Rome, AD 236-238.

Maximinus was the first in a long succession of military emperors that ruled Rome in the turbulent half century until Diocletian rose to power.  This is a lovely portrait on a scarce sestertius.  S-8332v.
