China Gold Panda
Buy Gold and Get the Opportunity for Gains in China
The China Gold Panda is one of the most intriguing coins available today. While the Panda is more expensive than other gold bullion coins, it may be well worth the extra premium. There are numerous features that make the Panda appealing. It is now a lengthy series (originating in 1982) with different designs produced annually to keep collectors interest level high. Demand for Pandas is strong in China; spurred on by the unprecedented economic growth in that country. Gold ownership is a relatively new opportunity for Chinese citizens and there is an ever expanding group of them with disposable income. The Gold Panda series allows these people to own gold in a form that is a constant reminder of their proud heritage.
Prices on many of the earlier Panda coins have soared as supplies of these coins simply cannot keep up with the growing demand. The 1995 one ounce Gold Panda is now worth over $4,000.00! In 1995, it could have been purchased for around $400.00. Even the more recent 2006 dated tenth ounce Gold Panda that could have been purchased for less than $100 in its year of issue will fetch $1,000.00 today! The current year’s Pandas can be purchased for 4% to 7% more than comparable bullion coins depending on size. Given the performance of some back issue Gold Pandas, buying current year issues is a fairly low-risk/high-reward proposition. Though it is difficult to predict future performance based on past results, I would certainly endorse paying the small premium to buy a few Gold Panda coins every year.
