Description

On a cold winter night in 1912, the RMS Titanic struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic, taking the lives of nearly 1,500 people as it sunk to the dark ocean depths over two and a half hours. The shipwreck was an untouched mass grave and time capsule for 73 years before it was rediscovered.

The Titanic was equipped with two steam engines and one steam turbine, which consumed upwards of 600 tons of coal each day. The ship was rediscovered in 1985, and then in 1994 the coal from the engine room was recovered. Further expeditions caused irreparable damage to the ship, and the wreck has since been declared a world heritage site.

Along with purchasing this is an NGC certified authentic fragment of coal recovered from the shipwreck of the RMS Titanic, you will receive a 1998 dated Canada 1 ounce silver Maple leaf a Titanic privy mark.
